My Inspiration - I

This week i attended two seminars-cum-workshops sponsored by MAAC(Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics), TASI, NID.

My Inspiration - I, is Mr. Ishu Patel and his work, who has been an Oscar nominee twice and has been working on his skills and knowledge base since his young days. His hard work and creativity is par excellence...he joined the National Film Board of Canada in 1970.

For the next 50 minutes...i was in the haven of creativity and the profundity of art.
I saw 'Bead Game', 'Divine fate', 'Top Priority', 'AfterLife', 'How Death Came to Earth'. It never made me feel that such colorful drawings and objects could make brilliant short animated films like these! He is right when he says 'You young people...eat food and never chew it!' Thats so true...

My next blog is My Inspiration - II...till then try chewing food for a change! ;-)

Much Ado about nothing!

The most talked about 'Brangelina visit' to India has been the most hush..hush celebrity visit i've ever heard about. Even the Mr. Bond hit 'Octopussy'(1983) didn't leave a bad taste in the mouth...such as this!
This wasn't the least that was expected from the UNHCR ambassador and Mr.Pitt! I feel that Mrs. Pitt who has been a human rights activist could have shown some gratitude for the Indianism and the people just with a flickering smile or a handshake. I am not trying to talk all negative about the Bradlina trip to India but its just the attitude which matters the most!

When toilets and a sparkling sip of water can save 2 million lives...

According to the recent UNDP Human Development Report, "Ninety per cent of the world's population lives in countries that share their water resources with other nations. India and Pakistan have been sharing Indus waters for half-a-century through the Permanent Indus Water Commission. India is ranked 126 in the Human Development Index out of 177 countries and on the Human Poverty Index it ranks No.55 among the other 122 countries. The report says that, there is more work to be accomplished to bring an equitable distribution of water and sanitation among the haves and the have-nots.

Why is it so difficult to get clean and safe drinking water? When the economy spends exorbitant prices on the defence systems. Yes it is a neccesity but when the development components such as Water, Electricity, Education, Food and a Shelter to live in become scarse! it is essential to distribute the resources and the per capita income evenly.

2 Million children die every year due to the growing water and sanitation crisis. In the recent national newspaper the headlines said that 'Water in Delhi flowing from the Yamuna is Cancerous'. Now how can we take no notice of that! And still be happy with the 'Reverse Osmosis' treated water that we drink daily.

I wish there will be solutions to save those 2 Million Children and the rest of the surving population. 'I AM ONE OF THEM'....

NASSCOM CALLING!!

Nasscom to launch test for BPO jobs in Nov

The Nasscom Assessment of Competence (NAC) - a capability assessment programme for potential employees in the BPO industry, is all set for a nationwide rollout from November this year.

Nasscom expects over 1 lakh young job aspirants to appear for NAC in the first year of its national rollout, Kiran Karnik, president of Nasscom, said.

About eight states - Rajasthan, Gujarat, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Kerala, Bihar and Sikkim are expected to launch NAC by end-November.

The NAC is aimed at addressing the talent shortage faced by the industry, he said. "The aim is to create a continuous pipeline of talent by 'transforming' the workforce into an 'employable' workforce".

Gold Hallmarking!

The pilot project for NAC was completed in June this year and about 6,000 candidates took the test in the select states, Karnik said.

According to NASSCOM, only 25 per cent of technical graduates and 10-15 per cent of college students are suitable for employment in the IT and BPO industry.

It is estimated that by 2010, India could have a manpower shortfall of 5,00,000 people by 2010. Of this, the BPO gap would be around 3.5 lakh.

NAC will be an online test for assessing aptitude of a candidate on seven different skill sets including listening and keyboard skills, verbal ability, spoken English, comprehension and writing ability, office software usage, numerical and analytical skills, and concentration and accuracy.

Hey people this is going to be a tough deal for sure...but with an Organization like this, there is no excuse!

'Rocky' Your Office Assistant!

Inspired by PizzaDude's Kitty Assistant i was forced to try my hands on this Comic Strip. Take a close look at the sequence of this character and his work. Its been jumbled up to add some sense similar to that of a comic strip. Technology is Fabulous!! I must say.

Its all about Landour and Clouds End...

I've just returned back from a weekend getaway with my happy family. I wish each day was spent like this...far away from the daily qualms of life and its miserabilities. :0)
Landour and Clouds End are two poles apart hubs in a place called the 'Queen of Hills' - Mussouri. One of the oldest hill stations in India, since years tourists are visiting this place to take a glimpse of its natural beauty (2005.5 mts). Though its been much commercialised to lose that touch and magnificense.

The two places where one can enjoy the most are Landour (We have a 'Landour School of Languages' out there! isn't that amazing) and Clouds end (Now this place is probably towards the west side of Mussouri) Clouds end can be virtually visited at http://www.cloudsend.com May be this can help

Clouds End is centralised on a hill amidst the dark and cloudy forest. We stayed at the Clouds End Resort for a night with a sheet of bright twinkling stars above us! The colonial look to the resort made it more interesting for us to explore the nearby forests. The closest view is called the 'Echo Point' where we shouted loud and heard our echoes. Awesome...isn't it!

Am lucky to have travelled with my family to these beautiful places! Though i still miss my hometown 'Dehradun'...

Wind-of-Change

Life is too short to consider the black & white shades in the background. I have been greatly moved by the efforts of one single lady trying her best to mend ways for children in the slums. Its her blog which inspired me to start my own! Mrs. Bakshi is one out of the many women who grind themselves for the betterment of our society.

Its a new day each day...lest for some its the same. Returning back from my hometown this weekend i saw some village children plucking 'Jammuns' from the highway 'Jammun' trees, some looked hungry, though their lonely eyes....just wanted to earn a 10 Rupee note. Giving us the greed to buy five packets for a 10 Rs note! Amazing....be it for fun...or hunger, their day was made!

I'll be back soon with the 'Wind-of-Change'.

Sayonara!
